On-call service
Last updated : May 13, 2026
On-call service is governed by point D of article 9 of the CCT SAS 2025. Two arrangements exist: physical on-call and telephone on-call.
Definitions
- Physical on-call: the employee must be available to report to the place of work within 30 minutes of the call.
- Telephone on-call: the employee must be available to handle work-related calls without being required to be available to report to the place of work.
An on-call shift is understood to mean a maximum duration of 24 successive hours.
Compensation
The employee receives compensation, incorporated into the individual work plan (PTI):
- physical on-call shift → 1 hour;
- telephone on-call shift → ½ hour.
Alternatively, the employer and the employee may agree on financial compensation equivalent to the unincreased salary due for that duration.
Actual work during the on-call period
Each actual call-out is counted as working time, in blocks of 10 minutes (any block started being counted in full). The applicable increases are those provided for in article 9 C.3 d): only call-out periods exceeding 120 minutes per month give entitlement to the increases for additional work.
Exemption after the age of 50
On request, an employee who has reached the age of 50 may be exempted from on-call service, provided that the service has another qualified employee to carry out this function.
